14-8 Wednesday. Monteriggioni-Sienna

Start at 6. Through Porta Romea out of the village. Again bloody hot and much climbing and going down. We passed Chiocciola (castle), Pian del Lago, Piramide Leopoldina and Convento Vecchio. On the way there was a nice little restplace for coffee and a stamp. At noon I reached the outskirts of Sienna and at 12.45 I entered the centre of Sienna through Porte Camollia. Many, many tourists and finally we reached the very, very beautiful Duomo of Sienna. The city was very busy with training for The Palio on 16-8. When Anne arrived we checked in the beautiful Ostella.                                                                 The last few days we were thinking and speaking what to do after Sienna. It was clear we could not reach Rome walking on time because Anne has to work 26-8. So at the end of the discussions this was our solution: Anne would take the train to Rome and stay there a couple of days before flying back to Paris and Hennie Will continue the walk and tries to reach Rome  In the evening Anne bought herself a new dress (to seduce the Pope ????)  and then we went to sleep for our last night together for now.                                                Today 24 km Total 580 km
